Decisions, decisions. We start making them before we’ve even looked at the menu. Shall we sit in the dining room or on the sun-bathed deck? Shall we dine in the garden or the vineyard? This is all part of Harvest’s ethos to create an atmosphere and experience that reminds diners of the true meaning of hospitality. More choices – lunch, aperitivo, dinner? Each boutique-y menu subscribes to the ‘farm-to-fork’ philosophy, sourcing produce from on-site gardens and local suppliers. A Mibrasa charcoal oven is put to very good use here and Rakaia River venison is a great candidate for this treatment, as is merino lamb shoulder (with vegetables from the garden). The business of keeping it local extends to the wine list where there’s barely an outsider to be seen. The sense of belonging in this vineyard setting is all-pervasive. Head chef Wieland Matzig performs to fine form at this seven-day operation.
IN BRIEF: A fine vineyard-dining experience - Kelli Brett - Cuisine Magazine
Seasonal Menus
Our menus are carefully crafted and very accessible, driven by quality, using familiar ingredients found in a region boasting plentiful seafood, wild game, lamb & beef as well as an abundance of fruit and vegetable.
Our talented team collaborate with our gardeners and partners to make the most of the produce on offer for you to experience
Wine & Beverages
Our curated wine list aims to provide our guests with a selection of wines from Marlborough and greater NZ. The variety of wines we have selected for our list are generally from smaller wineries or specific vintages providing our guest the opportunity to experience wines they may not normally come across or can access. This philosophy means our list changes as we replace stock allocations when depleted and/or we come across something that we believe stands out and deserves to be showcased.
We also serve our estate made wine "The Marlborough" .
Our list of cocktails range from the well known to our own and with items from our herb and citrus gardens available there is always something new to entice.
There is also a selection of locally brewed beers on tap and by bottle and a selection of low and non alcoholic options
Organic Vegetable Garden
We are delighted to be able to produce organic seasonal vegetable from our onsite gardens that allows us the ability to feed these directly into our kitchen.
Our talented team then have the ability to highlight our fork to fork philosophy and it doesn't get any fresher than this.
We are also fortunate to be supported by our local suppliers who provide us with a wonderful range from Marlborough. Our menus change regularly to make the most of the produce on offer.
The Marlborough Estate & Vineyard
Located in the midst of the world renowned vineyards of Marlborough we are part of the The Marlborough Estate, which has 16 acres on which is a boutique hotel, restaurant and vineyard and sprawling gardens. The boutique hotel with just 10 rooms is the ultimate experience in the vineyards. It also produces its own estate wine under the label "TM" .
The vineyard is small in comparison to Marlborough standards just 4 acres, within this there is Sauvignon Blanc, Reisling, Merlot & Malbec vines and under the expert guidance of the talented wine maker Tamara Kelly we produce Sauvignon Blanc, Reisling, Rose, Merlot, Malbec and in some vintages a blend of the Merlot & Malbec. The philisopohy in the vineyard is to create the best possible wine we can by spending much time in prior to harvest to help create the best grapes but with low production.
The vineyard is sustainable and organic as possible and the limited amount of wine produced each year is only available in our restaurant and at the boutique hotel.
Charcoal Cooking
Charcoal cooking is versatile, hands-on and creative allowing us to push the limits of the menu. We want to appeal to all your senses and our Mibrasa Charcoal oven (the only one in the region) gives us another dimension in the language of gastronomy.
The Mibrasa Charcoal oven is widely used in Michelin star restaurants
